10 Best Laptop Diagnostic Software Tools PC Health Check

Diagnostic programs allow you to determine the state of the computer as a whole and its individual components. It can use them for performance verification, temperature control, or continuous system monitoring.   1. Go to the Bench tab.

The program GPU-Z eliminates the CPU-Z disadvantages and provides very detailed information about the video card. The utility shows all the parameters of the graphics adapter up to the device code. Information about cores, memory, power subsystems, frequency, the temperature of the video card – everything is collected in a single GPU-Z interface. An interesting feature of the program is the detection of fake video cards. If the actual parameters do not correspond to the technical characteristics of the model, then the Fake message will appear in the information about the device, and an exclamation mark will be displayed instead of the manufacturer’s logo.

For convenience, the most important data is collected on the General Information screen. There are links to sections of individual devices in the left pane – there is much more information in them. For example, in the submenu “Data storage,” you will find the result of the SMART analysis of the hard disk, which shows its current state.

During monitoring, the temperature of each device is measured. Speccy warns the user about exceeding the permissible heating values ​​by repainting the icon in a threatening red color. You can also enable the display of the temperature of an individual device in the system tray.

  • Expand the “View” menu and go to “Options.”
  • On the “Notification area” tab, mark the minimization to the tray and display values, and then select the device and sensor – for example, the motherboard’s temperature.

System Explorer

System Explorer is a complete replacement for the standard Windows Task Manager, which offers significantly more information about the processes and provides additional tools for monitoring the system’s state. The program is available for free download and does not take up much disk space.

System Explorer’s default interface is similar to Task Manager. It is a window with four tabs showing current processes, performance, connections, and the history of various actions. AIDA64

AIDA64 is a powerful application for diagnosing and monitoring system health. The program selects information from the BIOS memory, tells about all connected devices, and provides links to additional information. In addition, AIDA64 provides users with performance and stability testing tools under load. The only problem is that all of this is available for free only for a 30-day trial period. HWiNFO

HWiNFO is a small utility that shows the main characteristics of a laptop and its components. Knows how to take readings from sensors, which allows you to monitor the temperature of the components and voltage through it. The program is distributed under a free license, but as gratitude, the developer can send him any amount.

Separate information is collected in graphs that are easy to visualize.

  1. Click on the Configure button.
  2. Go to the Advanced section.
  3. Find the Pwm Mode elements in the list and make sure that they have the Manual status. If another mode is selected, select each element and select the Manual status through the Set To line.

Overclocking users need CPU-Z, GPU-Z, AIDA64, SpeedFan, PCMark, and FurMark. They may contain slightly less information about the characteristics of the device and the state of the system. Still, there are powerful tests to check the performance and stability of the laptop under load.
