PCMark is a program for testing system performance. Futuremark developed it. They also have a utility called 3DMark, which is also designed to conduct stability and performance tests and check the processor and video card bundles. PCMark covers more subsystems.

PCMark offers various benchmarks for system performance and stability

With the help of this program, we can determine the capabilities of a laptop for rendering and editing video, complex calculations, storage, and transmission of data. Various tests help determine the speed of writing and reading of RAM and permanent memory, the power of each processor core, the speed of rendering graphics card objects. The utility includes some 3DMark test tools to determine the laptop’s suitability for high-load games.

After the test, the result appears on the screen in points. The rating allows you to judge the performance of a laptop. The tester also reports on what problems were found during the test and advises on upgrading your computer.

Conducts general laptop performance testing.
Analyzes the state of the OS.
Compares the results with the ratings of other users.

In the basic version, the interface is not translated into Russian.
The program has a paid version in which all testing tools are available. But for a basic check and determination of the weak points of the laptop, the capabilities of the free edition of the utility are enough.

FurMark is the benchmark for verifying the performance of discrete graphics cards and embedded video systems. Basically, it is a set of stress tests that test the graphics subsystem for stability under load. The utility is distributed under a free license and receives regular updates.

All graphics card resources are required to render this render.

FurMark’s interface consists of a test setup window and a section for conducting it, in which a complex render rotates. Before starting the test, we select the graphics level and test mode. For example, you can enable full-screen mode, select a resolution, adjust anti-aliasing. A significant point is the indication of the duration of the check. Prolonged exposure to load can damage the video card.

After starting the stress test, a render appears on the screen, drawing all the resources of the graphics adapter. It is not recommended to use other applications on the laptop. The only program that needs to be running is a temperature monitoring diagnostic utility such as GPU-Z. Depending on the set parameters, testing stops after the selected time or manually.

The most rigorous and honest check of a video card for performance, stability, and power consumption.
Different testing modes.
Possibility of automatic and manual completion of the check.
Together with the utility, GPU-Z is installed – a program for diagnosing a video card.

The interface is not translated into Russian.
Graphics adapter load limit.
FurMark can literally burn your graphics card and other components. Therefore, before starting it, you need to make sure that the cooling system on the laptop is working correctly. The first test is recommended to be carried out no more than 5 minutes, constantly monitoring the temperature of the graphics adapter and other devices.

It all depends on the task at hand. If the goal is simply to monitor all system indicators and the laptop’s state, you can get by with utilities such as Speccy, HWinfo, HWMonitor, System Explorer. They do not have testing tools, but they have a lot of useful information that allows you to detect weaknesses and prevent errors.

Overclocking users need CPU-Z, GPU-Z, AIDA64, SpeedFan, PCMark, and FurMark. They may contain slightly less information about the characteristics of the device and the state of the system. Still, there are powerful tests to check the performance and stability of the laptop under load.
