If we talk about the design both of the earbuds are very different in terms of looks and follows very different design language. Starting with the case both earbuds gets a compact size charging case but when we talk about the material used for the cases then the XM3’s case feels is much better because of the all-metal case with a glossy matt finish, whereas the Momentum 2 comes with a plastic reinforced case which has a good built quality, but not feels that good and premium-like XM3.

Both earbuds have good built quality and feel a lot much sturdy and durable you won’t found any issues regarding the built quality of both of the earbuds. Momentum 2 is light in weight than the XM3, Momentum 2 is having a weight of nearly 6g whereas XM 3 having a weight of nearly 8g. both earbuds provide good fitting and comfort you won’t find any issues regarding the fitting and comfort from both of the earbuds.

The Momentum 2 offers support to SBC, AAC, and aptX codecs which will improve your Bluetooth streaming experience but unfortunately with XM3, you won’t get any Aptx which is very disappointing at the price point at which XM3 served in the market. If we talk about noise cancellation then no one can beat XM3 at this price range and Sony always new benchmarks in terms of ANC audio devices and XM3 is not districted from this. Momentum 2 noise cancellation is also good but not that good like XM3. Sony also offers adaptive sound control which is a very cool feature.

The Momentum 2 offers a huge 35 hours of total battery life, 7 hours of battery life in the earbuds, and 28 hours of battery additional battery life with the charging case. The charging case and earbuds can be fully charged in 90 minutes via USB type C cable. The quick charge offers 90 minutes of battery life on 10 minutes of charging.

XM3 also offers a good 30 hours of total battery life, 8 hours of battery life with earbuds, and 24 hours of battery life with the charging case. It also comes USB type C charging port and supports quick charge. It also offers the same 5 hours of battery life with 10 minutes of charging with a special AC adapter.

Momentum 2 operates on Bluetooth 5.1 whereas XM3 operates on Bluetooth 5.0 so comparatively the Momentum 2 offers quite good connectivity options. Both earbuds get the support of their official apps through which you can change the settings regarding noise cancellation, equalizer and etc. Both earbuds provide good solid and stable connectivity and you won’t find any issues with these earbuds regarding the connectivity.

Sennheiser Momentum TW 2 puts a good fight with its improved battery life and sound quality against one of the most reputed established players in the mid-range earbuds market the Sony WF-1000XM3. So if you want a better battery life with a sound quality and host features regarding Aptx support you should go for Momentum 2. But if you preferred ANC more over the features and battery life then you must go for the XM3.
