Honor Watch ES vs Huawei Watch Fit: What’s The Difference

Honor Watch ES vs Huawei Watch Fit

The Honor Watch ES is the youngest sports smartwatch from the Huawei subsidiary. For about 121 USD, you get a well-equipped watch with blood oxygen measurement, AMOLED display, and animated workout instructions.

After Huawei already has one of the best smartwatches in this segment on the market with the Huawei Watch GT 2 and the Watch GT 2e, the Huawei Watch Fit is now a new smartwatch in the Apple Watch look.

Today here we are going to compare Honor Watch ES with Huawei Watch Fit. Check out and get inspired!

If you look at the watch for the first time, it quickly becomes clear that Honor has put a lot of effort into this. Glass and high-quality processed plastic are used for the housing. The glass covers the entire front surface and then runs discreetly into the plastic frame. The plastic is matt and looks very high quality. The only button on the clock can be found on the right edge. The button is very discreetly embedded in the frame of the Honor Watch ES, has a very nice pressure point, and is adorned with a discreet red stripe. On the back, which is also made of plastic, we find a heart rate sensor and the sensor for monitoring the oxygen saturation in the blood.

The 2-pin connector for charging the watch is located above the sensors. Although the Honor Watch ES is aimed more at the active user, and the frame is made of soft plastic. The case is 30mm wide and 47mm high. The fact that the watch’s display is slightly curved up and down results in a maximum thickness of 12mm in the middle. At the thinnest points, above and below, the result is a thickness of 9.5mm. The fitness tracker is attached to the arm using a silicone bracelet, closed with a plastic pin buckle. The bracket for the strap of the bracelet is provided with a subtle HONOR engraving.

Huawei is also finally launching a watch with a square display on the market. So it is no secret that the Huawei Watch Fit is strongly based on the look of the Apple Watch and, at the same time, will be competing for the Amazfit GTS or the still popular Amazfit Bip. The Watch Fit has case dimensions of 30 mm in width and 46 mm in height and is a maximum of 12 mm thick. This makes it a bit slimmer and more elongated than the Amazfit GTS and weighs a total of 35 g, including the bracelet.

The case edge of the Watch Fit consists of matt plastic with a metal look. As usual, black plastic is installed on the underside. The charging pins and the optical pulse sensor are also located here. The Huawei Watch Fit has a slightly curved case shape, making sense with the rectangular case and giving the device a little more dynamism. Finally, there is a button on the right side of the case that takes you to the main menu.

The watch fit wristband holder is integrated into the case, and thus, you get a direct transition from the case to the wristband. But this also means that you can only use bracelets with the appropriate holder on the Watch Fit. The bracelets are 20 mm wide and 11.6 cm, and 7.2 cm long. The watch is held securely on the wrist with a classic pin buckle. The wristbands are perforated on both sides of the case, ensuring that sweat is well transported away during workouts. The Huawei Watch Fit is available in the versions Sakura Pink, Graphite Black, Mint Green, and Cantaloupe Orange(our test device). Huawei definitely has something in store for female buyers again, which is express to be praised.

Overall, the basic design is not really innovative. However, in my opinion, Huawei still manages to make the rectangular housing design with a filigree-looking, rather elongated shape appear a little fresher than, for example, Amazfit with the GTS. In addition, there is the usual flawless processing quality from Huawei.

Honor Watch ES

In terms of specifications, Honor relies on the typical components of a fitness tracker. The following sensors are offered:

Optical heart rate sensor
Gyroscope
Accelerometer
Capacitive sensor
Ambient light sensor

Unfortunately, the Honor Watch ES did not have a GPS sensor. That’s too bad. Since the watch is primarily designed for sports and is specially recruited for runners, 12 fitness classes on the clock for workouts pre-installed, divided into four levels, and last between three and 18 minutes. In these workouts, the user is guided by so-called “quick workout animations.” Honor did it really nicely; the animations look good and encourage the user to move. If the watch notices that the user has not moved for a long time or has been sitting for a long time, it signals itself via vibration and animation and prompts them to move.

The range of sport modes supported by the Honor Watch ES is so large. There are a total of 95 modes, which are divided into 6 different categories. There are also 17 courses aimed at all runners—these range from interval running to long-term jogging. The app also has four training plans for running. 5 km, 10 km, half marathon, and marathon are offered here.

Honor advertises with a 10-day runtime; there is no precise information. With daily use, the Honor Watch ES gave me around seven days of running time. The 24-hour heart rate measurement was active, as was sleep monitoring. The brightness is always on Auto, and app notifications are active. If you use this, the battery life is shortened considerably, so you probably only get four to five days.

Huawei Watch Fit

When it comes to features, the Huawei Watch Fit leaves nothing to be desired. In addition to an integrated GPS module, you can also find the following sensors.

The Watch Fit is, of course, designed for sporting use – the name ultimately proves this. A total of 96 different training modes are available for sports tracking. The range of sports is still unparalleled and is unrivaled on the market for this type of smartwatch. Especially for the runners among you, Huawei still has 13 different running courses in conjunction with the Health Appin program. With these, beginners find their form as well as ambitious, advanced runners. The entire training range of the Huawei & Honor Smartwatches remains unmatched with the Watch Fit, and Huawei even goes one better this time!

Like the Watch GT 2e, Huawei does not provide any specific information about the Watch Fit’s battery capacity. However, it is advertised with a battery life of up to 10 days.

Honor Watch ES

Honor Watch ES App

The Honor Watch ES is not only suitable for sports, but it also has the usual features of a smartwatch. So the watch comes with the following additional features:

The watch is connected to the smartphone via Bluetooth 5 BLE. The watch face is customizable, and the user gets a huge selection here. Some watch faces are already preinstalled on the watch; others are available in the app. Honor has also thought of an always-on mode (AOD mode for short).

The Watch Fit offers 12 fitness courses directly on the watch, in which you are guided through various exercises with so-called quick workout animations. An avatar carries out 44 different standard movement demonstrations on the watch.

Huawei Watch Fit

Huawei Watch Fit App

In addition to the focus on sporting use, the Huawei Watch Fit, of course, also has an almost normal range of functions for current smartwatches. The function for the menstrual cycle, which was also new in a similar form with the Xiaomi Mi Band 5, is not yet available in version 1.0.0.51 of my test device.

The Huawei Watch Fit can also be connected to the smartphone via Bluetooth 5.0 BLE. It is also waterproof to 5 ATM and can therefore also be worn for bathing, showering, and swimming. Corresponding sport modes are, of course, also available in the training area.

Conclusion!

Overall, the Honor Watch ES is a very nice watch for everyone who likes to do sports and is looking for a fitness tracker. The app is not only worthwhile for sports enthusiasts who can also use the watch in normal life. Anyone looking for a cheap smartwatch will get a very successful overall package here. If the budget is a bit bigger, it is also worth taking a look at the Huawei Watch Fit because you also get a GPS sensor. Otherwise, we can definitely recommend buying the Honor Watch ES.

Smartwatches in the Apple Watch look have not only enjoyed great popularity since the Amazfit Bip. Huawei is also entering this category and is actually doing almost everything right with the Huawei Watch Fit. The appealing design, the extensive range of functions, and the impeccable processing quality can absolutely convince me. The display and the training recording, which have been expanded to include animated fitness courses, can definitely score points. The Watch Fit only has some room for improvement in battery life, but after all, it will not be launched as a real top model from Huawei.
