How To Fix Roblox Not Launching Error On PC
Roblox is fun, but it’s not fun when you can’t even start Roblox. Commonly, Roblox won’t start, and the good news is that some known fixes are available.
If you’re an avid gamer, you’ll also know about Roblox, which offers game enthusiasts a wide range of mini-games. Designed by various developers, these mini-games make Roblox a wonderfully fun online platform. It helps to create a beautiful virtual world of games and adventures. Roblox can be downloaded from the Windows Store and downloaded to become part of millions of gamers in different parts of the world.
However, some users report “an error message was displayed”. There was an error during startup.” While trying to start Roblox. If you face a Roblox crash or error on your Windows PC, this post will be useful. Below are some of the possible ways to solve the problem. Let’s see how:

Restart your PC
It is possible that Roblox may not start or connect due to a temporary malfunction in the Roblox application or system.
Therefore, if Robox suddenly stops working, please try restarting your PC once. To restart your PC, click “Windows Mark” and select “Power Icon”-> “Restart.”
If you can restart your PC, check if Robox works appropriately. If an error occurs even after restarting, proceed to the next solution.
Delete the temporary data in the browser
There may be cases where Roblox does not start or cannot connect due to temporary data problems such as the browser cache or cookies.
Therefore, deleting the temporary data in the browser may resolve the error. To delete temporary data in your browser, follow the steps below.
For Google Chrome:
- Start Chrome.
- Click “Menu (3-point icon)”-> “Other Tools”-> “Clear Browsing History” in the upper right.
- Change the period to “All period”.
- Check “Browsing history”, “Cookies and other site data”, and “Cached images and files”.
- Click Delete Data.
For Microsoft Edge:
- Start Edge.
- Click “Menu (3-point icon)” → “History” in the upper right.
- Click “Menu (3-point icon)” at the top right of the history screen and select “Clear history data”.
- Change the time range to “All Periods”.
- Check “Browsing history”, “Download history”, “Cookies and other site data”, and “Cached images and files”.
- Click “Clear Now”.
For Firefox:
- Start Firefox.
- Click “Menu (3-line icon)”-> “Settings (or Options)” in the upper right.
- Click Privacy & Security from the left pane.
- Click Clear History.
- Change “History period to be erased” to “All history”.
- Check “Displayed pages and download history”, “Cookies”, and “Cache”.
- Click “Clear Now”.
If you can delete the temporary data in your browser, check if Roblox has started normally, and you can connect.
Delete the data in the Temp folder
It is possible that Roblox is not working properly due to a problem with the Roblox-related data that is temporarily stored in the Temp folder.
Therefore, deleting all the data in the Temp folder may solve the problem. To delete the data in the Temp folder, follow the procedure below.
- Right-click on Windows Mark and select Run.
- Type% temp% in the search box and click OK.
- The folder is C: \ Users \ username \ AppData \ Local \ Temp.
- Click the “View” tab in the top menu of Explorer and check “Hidden files” to “On”.
- Select all the files in the displayed TEMP folder.
- You can easily select all files by pressing Ctrl + A.
- After selecting, right-click → select “Delete”.
- Click “Yes” when the confirmation dialog is displayed.
After deleting the data in the Temp folder, check if Roblox has started normally and connect.
Reset the network information
There may be a case where an error occurs when connecting Roblox due to a problem with the network information of the PC.
Therefore, resetting the network information on your PC may solve the problem. To reset the network information on your PC, follow the procedure below.
- Right-click on Windows Mark and select Windows PowerShell (Admin). For Windows 11, select “Windows Terminal (Administrator).
- When the PowerShell window opens, type the following commands in sequence and press Enter.
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset
- Close the window when you can execute the command.
With the above procedure, you can reset the network information. After resetting the network information, check if the Roblox connectivity issue has been resolved.
Reset Roblox settings
It is possible that Roblox will not start properly due to a problem with the Roblox application’s configuration data.
Therefore, resetting the Roblox application’s configuration data may resolve the issue.
To reset the Roblox configuration data, use one of the following methods.
Method 1: Manually delete the Roblox folder in AppData
- After uninstalling the application, click Windows Mark and select Run.
- Type% appdata% and click OK.
- When the folder opens, click App Data in the address bar.
- Open the “Local” folder.
- Right-click on the Roblox folder and select Delete.
Method 2: Reset the app settings
- Right-click on “Windows Marks” and select “Apps and Features”.
- Select Roblox in the list of apps in the right pane and click Advanced Options.
- Click “Reset” in the reset item.
- Click Reset when the confirmation pop-up appears.
- When the check mark is displayed, the reset is complete.
After resetting the Roblox configuration data, check if it can be started normally.
Check the operating status of Roblox
It is possible that the Roblox server is failing, and you cannot connect successfully.

If the Roblox server is faulty, the user cannot handle it, so wait for the server to recover before attempting Roblox startup and connection.
Disable the proxy
You may get an error when connecting to Roblox because the proxy server is enabled in your Windows network settings.
Therefore, if a proxy is enabled, disable it. To disable the proxy, follow the steps below.
- Right-click on Windows Mark and select Settings.
- Select “Network and Internet”.
- Select “Proxy”.
- Toggle the “Use Proxy Server” switch to “Off”.
- For Windows 11, click “Edit” and then switch to “Off”.
After disabling the proxy server, start Roblox and see if you can connect successfully.
Change the DNS server
Something may be wrong with the DNS server you’re using to connect to your network, causing an error when connecting to Roblox.
Therefore, changing the DNS server to public DNS may solve the problem. To change your DNS server to Google’s public DNS, follow the steps below.
- Right-click on Windows Mark and select Run.
- Enter “ncpa.cpl” as the name and click “OK”.
- When the network connection is displayed, right-click the connected “Wi-Fi” or “Wired LAN” and select “Properties”.
- Double-click “Internet Protocol Version 4” from the list of items.
- After opening the properties window, check the “Use the following DNS server address” option.
- Enter 8.8.8.8 for the preferred DNS server and 8.8.4.4 for the alternate DNS server and click OK.
- Click OK to save your settings.
After changing the DNS server, start Roblox and check if you can connect normally.
Change the boot options
Depending on your environment, changing Roblox’s boot options may resolve the issue of not booting.
To change Roblox boot options, follow these steps:
- Right-click Roblox Shortcut (or Executable) and select Properties.
- Open the Compatibility tab.
- Change the following options.
- Check “Run this program in compatibility mode”.
- Check “Disable full screen optimization”.
- Check “Run this program as an administrator”.
- Click OK to save your settings.
After changing the boot options, make sure Roblox boots successfully.
Update / change the browser
Roblox may have problems starting or connecting due to an old browser version and a bug.
Therefore, please update to the latest version if your browser version is old. To update your browser, follow the steps below.
- For Edge: You can update to the latest version by right-clicking “Windows Mark,” selecting “Settings,” clicking “Update & Security,” → “Windows Update,” and running Windows Update.
- For Chrome: Select “Menu (3-point icon)”-> “Help”-> “About Google Chrome” in the upper right to check for updates. If there is an update, click “Restart.”
- For Firefox: Click “Menu (3-line icon)” → “About Firefox” in the upper right to start checking for updates. If there is an update, click “Restart and update Firefox.”
Once you’ve updated your browser to the latest version, check to see if your Roblox issue has been resolved.
If updating your browser does not resolve the issue, your latest version of your browser may be defective. So try changing to a different browser and see if the problem goes away.
Update the graphics driver
It is possible that Roblox will not start properly due to an old graphic driver version and a bug.
Therefore, please update your graphics driver to the latest version and see if the problem goes away. To update the graphics driver, follow the steps below.
- Right-click on Windows Mark and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Display Adapter tree.
- Right-click Graphic Driver Name and select Update Driver.
- Click “Search for drivers automatically”.
- When the latest driver is found, the update will start automatically.
- If the driver is already up-to-date, click “Search for updated drivers with Windows Update” to run Windows Update.
- Note : If your graphics driver is out of date and cannot be updated, please download and install the driver directly from the official page of the graphics board manufacturer.

After updating to the latest graphics driver, make sure Roblox starts normally.
Reinstall the Roblox app
It is possible that the Roblox application version is out of date or the related data is corrupted, causing boot or connectivity issues.

To reinstall the Roblox application, follow the steps below.
- Right-click on “Windows Marks” and select “Apps and Features”.
- Select “Roblox” in the list of apps in the right pane and click “Uninstall”.
- For Windows 11, click the “3-point icon” and then click “Uninstall”.
- Click Uninstall when a confirmation pop-up appears.
- Go to the official Roblox page and log in to your account.
- Select “Any game” and click “Play icon”.
- Click “Download and install Roblox”.
- Follow the instructions to complete the Roblox installation.
