The 10 Most Anticipated Games of 2021

2020 has been a difficult year, needing more than one round-up. In terms of awaited games, however, he closed a lot of topics that had been hanging over us for years: Cyberpunk 2077Final Fantasy VII RemakeGhost of Tsushima and The Last of Us Part II, finally fell into our hands. In this way, several of the largest studios have completed their long-term projects, and thus it will be years for more to go on sale. In 2020, the production cycles were disrupted and the largest fairs did not take place, which will certainly affect the premieres of 2021 … but we have something to wait for anyway. Maybe the list below is not your typical top-notch set (this year’s style) for a wide audience, but you can count on it. There are still many, many announcements ahead of us and many premieres, we are also not sure (see Diablo 4 or Breath of the Wild 2) – we did not add the unconfirmed ones to the list. So if the sky doesn’t fall on our heads, we will definitely play 21 ‘in great-looking titles. Here are the most anticipated games of 2021:

10. Graven

If shooting and dark, occult, fantasy is the right combination for you, then you know it will be the game for you. Graven draws on the somewhat forgotten heritage of Hexen and Hexen II, games that once built a cult around each other. In its modern version, it will be a title full of action and a dense atmosphere that allows you to combine many spells and use them in the environment (a bit like Bioshock or Dishonored ). What’s even better – the game can be played in cooperation with up to four people. Though from the beginning Gravenhas the features of production for a narrow group of players and a silent hit, it must not be denied a place in such combinations. You can see that it is a product made with great care, stylized for productions from 20 years ago. If only all the bricks fit together and the climate will deliver, it will be difficult to expect anything more.

9. Kena: Bridge of Spirits

The games take an ever greater twist towards fairy-tale climates, archery and jumping – which is eminently good news. Kena: Bridge of Spirits is one of the most interesting representatives of this trend. At first glance, you can feel the mix of The Legend of Korra, Ghibli anime and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. And if you have such inspirations and are able to present them in a convincing way, the chances of success increase significantly. After what we have already seen, we should expect such success. A beautiful setting and a world filled with forest spirits strike the warm strings of our hearts each time. And we will definitely need such titles.

  • Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5

8. Ghostwire: Tokyo

The Tango Gameworks studio, responsible for the very good two parts of Evil Within, takes us to a depopulated, contemporary Tokyo overrun by ghosts. However, it will not be a typical horror movie for them, but a modern neon macabre. A sight from the eyes, lots of action, casting spells, unusual atmosphere and a quality badge of Shinji Mikami (the creator of Resident Evil ) – it must be successful. We can count on everything here, although the first fragments of the game suggest even crazier Far Cry, created with Japanese elegance and a love of magic symbols. Ghostwire: Tokyo must not be missed. A mix of modernity, madness and demonology.

  • Platforms: PC, PS5

7. Returnal

Sony knows that the strength of PlayStation is exclusive games – Returnal will be one of those less loud, but very important exclusives. A beautiful, dynamic shooter will show us the story of a cosmonaut who fell into a time loop. We will continue to experience crashing into an unknown planet – our weapons and skills related to dynamic dodging will open the way to discover its secrets. Discovering mysterious technology, fighting the unknown and having a great pace should make Housemarque one of the first games worth taking the PS5 under its roof. The creators of such productions, Resogun and Nex Machina, are also a guarantee of a good dexterity threshing.

  • Platforms: PS5

6. Monster Hunter: Rise

The best-selling game in Capcom history? Monster Hunter: World. Not Street Fighter, not Resident Evil or Mega Man, but the last MonHun. It is no wonder then that the company wants to forge iron and 2021 will bring the next instalment of the series, which is starting to gain recognition in Western markets (in Japan it was a phenomenon from the beginning). The version with the subtitle Riseis to generate another million on the account of the blue and yellow corporation by appearing on the Nintendo machine printing money – Switch. The combination of the popularity of this console and the series will have a huge impact in the industry, it’s hard to doubt it. And Monster Hunter, like this Monster Hunter, will once again provide us with hundreds of hours of content tucked behind a seemingly simple recipe for monster hunting. It seems so simple, and only this cycle can generate such numbers. Colossus, a game where you can spend hundreds of hours alone, let alone online.

  • Platforms: Switch

5. Gotham Knights

The type is a bit exaggerated, but it is worth raising the bar for such titles. If Avenger’s by Crystal Dynamics turned out to be such a mishap, maybe the title in the DC universe will be able to learn from their mistakes? Gotham Knights primarily focus on solo fun (or with one co-op partner) with the Knight of Gotham of our choice. We will fight the crime that begins to spread through the city after Batman’s death. We get an open, dynamically changing world, RPG elements and heroes known from comics, who can finally shine in their own game. Hoping for something good, missing the Arkham franchise.

  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XOne, Xbox Series, PS5

4. Back 4 Blood

It is difficult to explain why Left 4 Dead 3 has not yet been created (except that Valve cannot count to three). The void after this title will be filled by Back 4 Blood created by people who were responsible for Evolve and … two versions of L4D. Could cooperative zombie shooting still be a hot topic and a game worth waiting for? Certainly yes. A well-planned repulsion of the horde and an exciting campaign will always defend itself when we have three friends on the phone. And now, when no one has dealt with a similar topic in this way (except Call of Duty ) for years, it will definitely be a production that deserves our attention. I can already see those hundreds of hours on the meter and the millions of dead people shot out.

  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XOne, Xbox Series, PS5

3. Halo Infinite

Despite huge purchases, Halo is still Microsoft’s most important brand. If the company really wants to push the Xbox to the leading position and seriously fight Sony, Halo Infinite must be successful. The first shows made a meme of this game, but it is still to be hoped that it will all be fixed. Postponing the premiere to the fourth quarter of 2021 should not only improve the appearance of the whole but also expand it as needed. The fight must be evocative, the grounds extensive, the weapons balanced, and the multiplayer modes to satisfy all fan wishes. The stakes are huge and 343 Industries will be able to cope with it.

  • Platforms: PC, XOne, Xbox Series

2. Hogwarts Legacy

19th century Hogwarts is counting on you, young wizard. We waited far too long for such an RPG. JK Rowling’s fantastic, timeless vision will finally be able to come true in the world of digital magic. The creation and development of characters and contact with dark forces will fuel this story full of moral turmoil. It will be an absolute school fantasy – as long as the creators reach the right level with their scenario and systems for creating potions and summoning spells. We’ll see you at platforms 9 and 3/4 in a few months, attendance is mandatory. Hogwarts Legacy should eventually do what should have been done long ago.

  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XOne, Xbox Series, PS5

1. Resident Evil Village

It is used to say (and sing) that diamonds are forever – such a diamond in the gaming world is definitely Resident Evil. How many times has the series changed, set trends and turned into totally non-obvious directions? Therefore, the eyes of the entire industry will be on the Village. It will be survival in the world of FPP again, but it promises to be delicious! More emphasis on occult themes and probably the largest scale of activities to date should bring back memories of the iconic Resident Evil 4. It will be darker and scarier than usual, and Capcom will magically weave into it all great gameplay and tons of adrenaline-pumping action. Resident Evil VIIIit will be a great title that can change everything again. In addition, in 2021 it has relatively little competition, so it will sound even louder. Certainty.
