Sennheiser HD 660 S

The HD660s which having been introduced in 2017 make it the latest addition to Sennheiser’s extremely successful HD600 series. Of course, the HD600 and HD650 have been for nearly two decades considered by many that one of the best sound standards as well as favorites amongst listeners and HD600S won’t different from them. They served in the market with two color options which are black and grey. In terms of heaviness, they weigh around 360 grams which is not so heavy for a wired headphone.

Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro

So everyone is wanted to see what the hype was behind them are they really good or is this just another brand deal turned into a fad. These are fairly efficient at an impedance of 150 ohms and a sensitivity level of 104 DB. We are gonna still recommend that you use a headphone amplifier with these we got plenty of volume coming straight out of your MacBook and my phone. However, on those devices, the headphone’s dynamic range sounded a little bit compressed. So we did think that there were benefits from a discrete headphone amplifier just keep in mind that it doesn’t have to be the most powerful amp out there something like a liquid spark or a GDS lives atom will be more than enough to drive these cleanly.

For accessories, the HD660s packaging is definitely on the minimalistic side but you do get everything you need to start listening. You can feel that it is very natural and transparent sounding so yeah tonality and pitch great we also think that for detailed retrieval and resolution they perform well. They’re an upgrade albeit a small one over its predecessors but we also thought that they performed better and they were cleaner in their delivery of the mids.

If you have an amp and just want a little bit less distortion so this is good for you. The 250-ohm ohms is the power needed to power the headphones and most computers can’t produce them. The 250 ohms of power to these headphones which is why you need an amp to boost the signal. About music-wise though these are balanced studio headphones with a slight emphasis on treble which gives them that airiness that translates to being a good stereo gaming headset.

At times though the trouble can be piercing you will found it happens but not too often. These aren’t open-back headphones so there won’t be a lot of bass. But there will be less fatigue when wearing these because you won’t have that bass beating down on your eardrums causing you to need to take a break from gaming.

These sounds average with most genres and music and excel and musicality where there’s like a lot of instruments being played like jazz and classical. But more of a subtle gaming experience that you might have to get used to if you’re coming from a strict gaming headset background. There’s excellent spatial awareness with these headphones they aren’t super wide when it comes to soundstage but they are wide enough to get the job done.

Moving on to the 660s build you can see that it sports a traditional HD 600 series chassis but in a slick all-matte black finish the body is constructed mainly out of plastic. But this remains one of the most durable and reliable headphone designs. You can see it’s great and we doubt these will give you quality issues down the road. The only part of this headphone that doesn’t hold up is the pads as you’ll likely have to swap these out every year or so if you want the headphone to continue delivering their intended sound.

The build comfort on this headphone is pretty good thanks to the mostly plastic construction they’re extremely light only 260 grams or so the pads use a fairly dense foam wrapped in very soft velour and are soft on the skin as well. You will want them were a little wider as some user’s ears might touch the inner sides of the pads the only real issue with comfort is that the clay force out of the box is pretty vicious. Nonetheless, this can easily be fixed by stretching out the headband all the way and then gently flexing the part that extends.

The design of these headphones they’ve got that iconic black color with the white grill inside that. The BearDynamic is known for when you’re wearing these are gonna know the ear cups themselves are oval and have that sensuous silver velour padding which is very comfortable. And surprisingly they don’t get that hot during extended gaming sessions which is what we’re all looking for at the end of the day. When we’re gaming the headband has a nice clamping force on it so you won’t be snatching these off your head or when you’re just moving around from monitor to monitor or during like an intense battle these are gonna stay put.

Now the headband up top has faux leather that can be replaced by just snapping it off if it gets worn over time. You’ve got these wires coming down off the headband into the ear cuff so be careful that you don’t catch these on anything or else it’ll be good for these headphones. The cable is coiled and is not detachable which you may don’t like because if something happens it’ with replaceable cables you can like just swap them out. It’s got a regular oxygen cable that allowing you to plug it directly into your computer sound card. If need be and it comes with a quarter-inch adapter to plug it into an amp. Overall the lightness combined with a comfortable headband and the ear cups makes for an enjoyable wearing experience.

Which is better!

Sennheiser HD 660 S

The Sennheiser HD 660 S remains great open-back analytical listening headphones. They produce excellent audio counterfeiting and do convenient sufficiently concerning the extended listening sittings. Though, they do quite a little firmer than other Sennheiser headphones. But they won’t be good enough for several other applications since their open design does not prevent several noises and crack the noise pretty much.

Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro

These are excellent headphones sprinkle with a little bit of hype, but that doesn’t change the fact that these are still perfect headphones. You’re also getting that great BearDynamic build and construction with comfortable plush that doesn’t get hot overtime for just $180. They are unquestionably a great buy based on those reasons alone but there are cheaper options out there that will give you a similar experience
