Asus ROG Ally Handheld Gaming Device Launching Soon

On May 11, 2023, Asus will release its latest handheld gaming device, the ROG Ally 2023. The device will run Windows 11 and come pre-loaded with a variety of gaming platforms, including Xbox Game Pass for PC, EA Play, Steam, Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Connect, and Battle.net12. The ASUS ROG Ally’s base modelwill cost $599.99 and include 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of NVMe M.2 SSD storage3.

Specifications

The ROG Ally is a handheld e-sports gaming device that runs on Windows 11. It is equipped with an AMD chip using the Zen 4 architecture and a 4nm process, as well as an RDN3 GPU that powers its internal 7-inch 1080p screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio and maximum brightness of 500 nits.

To reduce reflections when used outside, the screen is coated with Corning Gorilla glass. It also features a Dobly Atmos-certified dual-speaker specification that provides an immersive gaming experience. Additionally, the device supports fast fingerprint unlock through Windows Hello and Wi-Fi 6E connectivity.

What games can Play on ROG Ally

ROG claims that their new device, the Ally, will revolutionize handheld gaming by enabling players to access major platforms such as Xbox Game Pass, Steam, Epic Games, EA Play, Ubisoft Connect and Battle.net Games, as well as 3A titles. This means that gamers can play almost any game on their PC using the Ally.

Apart from the handheld mode, the Ally also supports keyboard and mouse mode, and desktop mode. Users can connect it to the ROG XG Mobile external desktop and play party games with Xbox controllers on a larger screen.

What to Expect!

ROG’s goal for creating the Ally was to offer an intuitive handheld experience that is ergonomic and user-friendly. At the event, ROG even displayed the disassembly diagram of the device to show its internal components, including the screen frame, hollowed-out top cover, 0.1mm cooling fins, two fans, and a battery holder.

The ABXY key has a specially designed smooth keycap, which provides a comfortable experience for the fingers when pressed. This is a significant improvement compared to other game consoles that may cause finger fatigue after prolonged use. ROG has taken special care to ensure that the keys are easy to press and do not cause discomfort to the user’s fingers.

The ROG Ally took the team five years to develop, which is a significant amount of time. At the event, ROG showcased the designers’ hard work, including the screen size, handle design, and case design.
