Google Pixel Slate 1

Apple iPad Pro

Start with Pixel Slate, The first impression of a device starts the box with the aesthetics and this is a solid-looking tablet. It’s almost matte black, it’s this sort of dark matte blue all the way around there are almost no logos which is taking a subtle classic G in the corner and it’s pretty symmetrical and balanced. No camera bump at all that’s a good start and the more We looked into this the more we remember all these reasons that Google is telling us back in October why this is going to be the dopest laptop-tablet convertible and to us, we don’t know possibly better than the iPad pro.

So it has a pair of stereo front-facing speakers just like back in the Nexus 10 days so audio is facing towards you and you can pretty much never accidentally block them and the sound turns out is pretty good. It’s got volume it’s full it’s great for a tablet and then the display is by far the flagship piece of this hardware it’s not a 120 Hertz but everything else about it is super high-end it’s a 30002000 with a 12.3-inch display. So a little taller than 169 and plenty sharp it’s called a molecular display, it’s super crisp this is the max brightness it’s not very bright but it’s still indoors plenty fine. It is good looking for watching shows and videos.

There are two USB C ports one on each side either one can be used to plug into charge and you can plug in both at the same time if you want one for charging and one for some accessory. The power button on the side doubles as a fingerprint reader so no need for face unlock but every time you hit the button you’re already securely unlocked. It has these smart pins at the bottom that work perfectly with this incredible pixel slate accessory that we think is objectively better than Apple’s keyboard.

Now talking about iPad Pro, It is crazy thin it’s 5.9 millimeters completely flat it has an incredible nearly bezel-less display, somehow has huge really impressive speakers and super powerful solid-state insides. So right off the bat, there’s an 11 inch or a 12.9-inch version and there’s a space grey or silver. We will say that the smaller one is much more reasonable and we think it’s one most people will get but if you are a big-screen person, so here we are with the crazy big 12.9 inch iPad pro.

It’s just a marvel to hold like there are pretty sharp edges all the way around but that it’s boxy like the iPhone 5s was it stands up on its own. It’s so light the weight distribution is so even throughout the whole slab that you can hold it with a single finger in the middle of the Apple logo. All of this means it’s very easy to hold, the edges are kind of sharp like, and they can maybe dig into your hands a bit if you’re holding it for a long time.

Pixel Slate has Chrome OS, which on paper is a nice combo of Chrome for all your web stuff plus the Play Store for all these Android apps all in one place. The USB C ports that can read accessories like SD cards and storage drives, so you will think that this is proper power users paradise.

But there is so much lag, it’s almost unbelievable this is real-time the animation for multitasking legitimately takes several seconds and it’s everywhere scrolling is not fast loading pretty much anything is slow, you will feel like this whole UI runs at like 12 to maybe 20 frames per second. Pinch-to-zoom and pretty much anything but especially in web browsing is usually lagging city it’s just not fun, and like no matter how many features you throw in here no matter how powerful Chrome OS can be, you’ll never be able to use this tablet long enough to even discover half of that stuff, because it’s just really not fun to use. You will be surely noted how much lag and choppiness there is everywhere and of course, that is a stark contrast the opposite of what makes the iPad pro so fun to use which is the excessive effortless and smooth performance thanks to that a 12x Bionic.

A 12 X Bionic is incredible it is the fastest chip we’ve ever seen in a mobile device if you’ve seen Geekbench scores that have been pretty popular lately as benchmarking faster than many laptops rivaling the 15-inch MacBook Pro. It has 4 GB of RAM and for some reason, the one terabyte iPad has 6GB of RAM. But generally, the performance is just really good from multitasking the flying through apps productivity photo-editing it’s all fast and fluid it’s a plus performance just like the previous iPad pro. But now you have more options about to be being future-proof, and you’re very future proof here and then even the accessory ecosystem is all upgraded the new Apple pencil way better.
