Huawei Band 7 Review: Ultra Thin Design With 2 Week Battery Life

Smartwatches have become an integral part of our lives. The big disadvantage: its comparatively short battery life. If you want a longer battery life, the fitness bands from different manufacturers are a good alternative. The youngest member of this group is the Huawei Band 7.

Huawei officially released the Huawei Band 7. Officials said that this is Huawei’s thinnest smart bracelet, at only 9.99mm thick and weighing 16g.

The Huawei Band 7 uses a 1.47-inch AMOLED screen, 2.5D high-quality curved glass, a slightly narrow border design, a resolution of 194 x 368, and a new UI design.

Personally, battery life is the second biggest criticism of smartwatches. The biggest gripe is that they just seem chunky and thick in many cases. For these reasons, a smartwatch has never been allowed to adorn my wrist beyond a fitting. For me, the fitness bands were and are more attractive.

Design

In terms of design, the Huawei Band 7 is available in 4 colors obsidian black, nebula powder, wild green and flame red, with a reinforced polymer fiber shell that adds delicate metal texture.

Whether you watch it with your eyes or hold it in your hand, you can feel that the design of the Huawei Band 7 is lighter and thinner. The thickness of the overall body is only 9.99mm. The thin and lightweight body design can fit the wrist nicely and wear. There will be no weight-bearing feeling when you get up, and you will not feel uncomfortable even when you wear it while sleeping.

In addition, the immense feeling of wearing the Huawei Band 7 on the hand is that it fits the wrist very well as if it fits on the skin. It has a near-insensitive wearing experience. It is very comfortable, and the wearing experience is still excellent. The thin design and high-end fashion The design style makes its appearance full of personality and exquisite.

Band 7 (left) and Band 6 (right)

The screen size and resolution of Band 7 (left) and Band 6 (right) are identical. It’s noticeable when the dial is set to a light colour or a non-black background, and it’s not like the official picture. The screen-to-body ratio is very high.

Band 7’s sensor is a circular module, whereas Band 6’s sensor is a rectangular module (see images on the left and right).

There is a physical button on the right side of the fuselage of Band 7 (left) and Band 6 (right), but there is no physical button on the Xiaomi Mi Band (centre).

Compared with Band 7 (left) and Band 6 (right), Band 7’s body is significantly thinner and lighter, but the battery remains at 180 mAh without shrinking, making it more comfortable to wear without getting stuck.

The material and finish of the Band 7 wristband have been changed to a matte finish. There is a distinct difference between Band 6’s “Blue,” and Band 7’s “Wild Green.”

Features

In addition to its stunning appearance, the Huawei Band 7 supports many health monitoring functions such as sleep health, blood oxygen monitoring, pressure monitoring, female physiological cycle, and heart health.

As far as sleep monitoring is concerned, Huawei Band 7 is equipped with HUAWEI TruSleep 2.0 sleep monitoring technology, which took four years of research and development and in-depth optimization, and is currently the industry’s leading technology for sleep monitoring based on infrared light. This function can perform sleep stage monitoring, real-time heart rate monitoring, sleep breathing monitoring, and assess sleep quality without disturbing the user’s sleep.

Moreover, Huawei Band 7 can automatically identify the user’s time to fall asleep. When to fall asleep, fully presenting a comprehensive sleep structure including sleepiness and sporadic naps, can accurately identify difficulty falling asleep, light sleep, easy waking up at night, and early waking up, There are 6 types of typical sleep problems such as more dreams and irregular work and rest, and personalized sleep assistance services and 200+ sleep improvement suggestions are provided to guide users to sleep in the most scientific and healthy way.

5ATM grade waterproof: Huawei Band 7 is a bracelet that supports 5ATM waterproof function. This waterproof performance meets daily waterproofing and rainproofing. It can also be used in water, but it cannot be adjusted.

GPS function: Huawei Band 7 does not support GPS, and the Huawei Band that support independent GPS include the Huawei Band 4pro and Huawei Band 3pro.

NFC Version: The advantage of buying the NFC version is that you can bind it to the electronic lock at home or the community access control, and you can go out without a proximity card or sensor. However, the community access control can only be bound to the sensor without encryption. You can use the access control of EasyCard. My community access control has encryption and cannot be bound. It can only be used for electronic locks.

Sensor

Huawei Band 7 is also equipped with the newly upgraded HUAWEI TruSeen 4.0 heart rate monitoring technology, which can continuously, quickly and accurately provide users with heart rate monitoring functions, helping users to care for their heart health in real-time.

This technology integrates the innovative technology and R&D strength of Huawei 2012 Laboratory and Huawei Global Research Institute. It has been continuously updated for 5 years. It has been upgraded to the fourth generation. Through the deep optimization of multi-sensor fusion and neural network AI technology, with lower power consumption and higher signal-to-noise ratio.

Combined with the ergonomic design of the product features, the motion interference noise cancellation algorithm is optimized, which effectively avoids the interference of wearing products in running, walking, cycling and other sports and makes the accuracy of exercise heart rate monitoring reach the industry’s maximum level.

Huawei Band 7 supports a wealth of health monitoring functions such as sleep health, blood oxygen monitoring, stress monitoring, female physiological cycle, and heart health. In terms of sports, it supports 96 sports modes such as running, cycling, swimming, rope skipping, roller skating, etc., basically covering the current mainstream sports and meeting the needs of various sports enthusiasts. It also supports music control, remote control photography, AOD screen display, information reminder, etc.

Connectivity

After the device is turned on, the Bluetooth is in a pairable state by default. IOS users need to connect the device to be paired on the Bluetooth interface in the mobile phone system settings. Bluetooth is connected through the APP.

Use the scan code function on the device page of the Sports Health App, scan the QR code of the device, click Agree in the Bluetooth message synchronization service dialogue box that pops up on the mobile phone, and the device vibrates to prompt for pairing, click Agree to pair, click Finish on the mobile phone, and the pairing is successful.

Open the Huawei Sports Health app, tap the four dots in the upper right corner, and tap Add Device.

Move the phone close to the bracelet to search for the Huawei bracelet, and click to connect.

After reading where the Huawei Band 7 is connected to the mobile phone, everyone must know it.

  1. The Huawei Band 7 can manually test the heart rate or it can automatically detect it, and the small screen on the bracelet can display the daily heart rate change.
  2. Huawei Band 7 can also detect blood oxygen saturation, pressure, sleep records, and women’s physiological health functions 24 hours a day. Many wearable devices do not fully record midday naps, but the Huawei Band can.
  3. In the Huawei Sports Health App for Band 7, remember to turn on all health management functions and set a reminder that the heart rate is too high or too low.
  4. In addition to turning on the automatic detection of blood oxygen saturation, Band 7 can also turn on automatic reminders below a certain value, usually below 95%, which is very low.
  5. In terms of sports functions, Band 7 continues the 96 sports modes of the previous generation. It does not have golf and diving modes like the flagship watch, the GT3 Pro, but it is enough for ordinary people. It is a pity that satellite positioning has not been added. It is said that the Xiaomi Mi Band 7 Pro, which will be released on July 2, will add GPS, and the Mi Band is the biggest competitor to the HUAWEI Band series. The next-generation Band 8 is bound to keep up with the addition of GPS.

Battery life

In typical scenarios, the Huawei Band 7 can support up to 14 days of battery life in typical scenarios. The ultra-long battery life ensures that we can wear it all day long and use it continuously, even when sleeping. You can also wear the bracelet to monitor various indicators in the body all the time. Whether we wear it to exercise, work, or sleep, it can always be online and give us the most powerful support.

The Huawei Band 7 does not support wireless charging. It supports wired charging. Align the charging base’s metal contacts with the charging port’s metal contacts on the back and lay it flat. Connect the other end to the charger and turn on the power until the charging level indicator appears on the screen.

It needs to be charged in a well-ventilated environment. The charging base is not waterproof. Before charging, you need to keep the charging interface, base port, metal contacts, and equipment dry. Be sure to wipe off water and sweat to prevent short-circuit failure. The bracelet is not equipped with a charger. Please use a Huawei charger with a rated output voltage of 5V and a rated output current of 0.5A or above.

It is recommended to purchase a Huawei charger from Huawei’s official channels. Check the battery level with the battery icon on the dial when the screen is on. Check the battery level on the connected device on the device interface of the Sports Health App.

Conclusion!

In general, the overall performance of Huawei Band 7 is still excellent, the appearance is very delicate, and it has a large screen design, which allows us to have a more convenient and fast experience during use. In the field of health and sports, On the other hand, Huawei Band 7 also brings a more professional performance, and it is indeed an excellent smart bracelet product.

Pros

  1. Compared with the previous generation, the thickness is reduced by 10%, the weight is reduced by 2 g, and the wristband is more comfortable and skin-friendly.
  2. The size reduction does not reduce the power, and the battery life can be maintained for 10 days after heavy use, and the longest battery life is 14 days.
  3. The NFC version can be used for electronic locks and community access control.
  4. The 24-hour automatic detection of blood oxygen saturation is available in the previous generation, but wearables that detect blood oxygen throughout the day are still not popular on the market.

Cons

  2. When used with iOS, Bluetooth calling is not supported. Only Android is.
  3. The screen ratio is not as high as in the official rendering.
