Asus has officially launched the sixth generation of one of the most distinctive and powerful gaming smartphones each year, the ASUS ROG Phone 6, and its ROG Phone 6 Pro variant. In addition to the expected performance jumps that it achieves thanks to being one of the first terminals with Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, the enhanced version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, the ROG Phone 6 comes with several surprises with which ASUS wants to reaffirm its position in the market of terminals for gamers.

First, we will comment on the differences between the ROG Phone 6 and the Pro variant, which are mainly two. The bass is a bit lacking; the 3.5mm headphone jack has a built-in 15V smart-enhanced Class-D Cirrus Logic CS35L45 audio amplifier. Equipped with Qualcomm aptX Adaptive technology, it can enjoy high sound quality and low latency performance with Bluetooth headphones.

The external speaker experience of the ROG Phone 6 series dual speakers is very good, but the bass performance is a bit weak.

Battery

The ROG Phone 6 series adopts a mid-structure motherboard + dual-cell architecture design, built-in 6,000mAh power, supports 65W fast charging, and does not have Qi wireless charging function through PD3.0 and QC5.0 fast charging protocols.

Connectivity

The ROG Phone 6 series adopts a double-sided nano-SIM card slot, supports 5G + 5G dual card dual standby, does not have a memory card expansion function, and has built-in Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, etc.

The ROG Phone 6 series has changed the side port design once again. After years of exploration, ASUS finally decided to keep only the USB-C port, so the “USB-C” that debuted on the ROG Phone 5 series, previously “metal contact” design, ultimately ended in failure. However, this time with the USB-C side port, I think it is a very good choice. First, it is easier to equip game accessories (don’t worry about the metal contact breaking problem), and secondly, the plug sleeve of the side port is no longer needed.

The USB-C on the side of the ROG Phone 6 series provides USB3.1 Gen2, DisplayPort 1.4 (4K resolution transmission), HDMI Output, QC3.0, QC5.0, and PD3.0 fast charging protocols; the USB-C at the bottom has USB2.0, QC3.0, and PD3.0 fast charging protocols.

The right side of the ROG Phone 6 series retains two sets of AirTrigger 6 ultrasonic touch keys, and 9 new gestures are added, providing 20 game control gestures.

For cooling, the ASUS AeroActive Cooler 6 combines a fan and a peliter cell.

The modular gamepad, Nintendo switch-style, and ROG Kunai III that we previously saw with the previous model are still supported. There are also protective covers and tempered glass options. The active cooling module, now known as the ASUS AeroActive Cooler 6, is the accessory that is most novel.
