Eizo FlexScan EV3895 vs Dell UltraSharp U3818DW: IPS Monitor Comparision

The Eizo FlexScan EV3895 is an extraordinary monitor that is most suitable for very modern offices and the business sector due to its size and properties. He would like to provide the viewing area of two large monitors so that you are only dependent on one device.

It has undoubtedly worked well with a diagonal of 37.5 inches and a sufficient high resolution of stretched 4K at 3840 x 1600 pixels in the extraordinary 24:10 format. In addition, the viewing angle stable IPS panel is curved, making it more comfortable for your eyes across its entire width. The only problem with Eizo’s project is the price. For around 1,500 USD you can quickly get three monitors with similar equipment that you can place next to each other on the table. In addition,

The Eizo is relatively modern and provides a highly versatile USB-C connection, which turns the monitor into a complete docking station – provided you have a USB-C-capable notebook. Then you can connect the notebook to the screen and let all other cable connections run through the monitor—whether USB devices, Ethernet LAN, or electricity. The base is well equipped for daily use and can be adjusted in every possible direction. Ethernet LAN or electricity. The base is well equipped for daily use and can be adjusted in every imaginable direction. Ethernet LAN or electricity. The base is well equipped for daily use and can be adjusted in every imaginable direction.

The Dell U3818DW, another device that the manufacturer intended primarily for professional use in the office. It also offers a huge screen with a 38 – inch diagonal in an extra-wide 21:9 format. The resolution considers the increased work surface with 3840×1600 pixels, and the curvature, together with an IPS panel, ensures stable viewing angles.

The efficient use of space for professional multitasking is supplemented by useful additional features such as Dell Easy Arrange and picture-in-picture or picture-by-picture functionalities. This allows the content of two different devices to be displayed simultaneously in separate windows, which also only require a mouse-keyboard combination for control via the KVM function of the USB 3.0 hub.

There are numerous other connection options for the input sources, including a USB Type-C port for exchanging power and audio and video signals between the notebook and the monitor.

The connection options are very extensive and also include the latest interfaces: 1 x DisplayPort 1.2 (HDCP 2.2), 2 x HDMI 2.0 (HDCP 2.2), 2 x USB 3.0 upstream port, 2 x USB 3.0 downstream port (page ), 2 x USB 3.0 downstream ports (bottom), 1 x USB Type-C (alternating mode with DisplayPort 1.2, power delivery and USB 2.0).

The Eizo FlexScan EV3895 is an optimal monitor for office use, but the manufacturer also makes you pay dearly for it. It offers a lot of screen space with a slight curvature, a good resolution, high ergonomics, an extended warranty, and relatively low power consumption thanks to the brightness sensor. The monitor can also be used as a docking station and includes practical multitasking extras like the KVM switch for picture-by-picture.

But to take full advantage, you need a device with USB-C or multiple computers at your desk. The overall package fits, but you could expect a little more for the money. For example, more than 60 hertz would have been nice, or a slightly higher brightness of 450 nits. With this sound quality, Eizo could have done without the loudspeakers, and the operation is unnecessarily cumbersome. In our opinion, the high price is justified in the 38-inch class. However, you will get a few hundred euros cheaper from the competition if you can do without the connection extras and the above-average guarantee.

Dell advertises the U3818DW quite modestly as an office monitor for professional multitasking. What added value such a large display in the extra-wide 21:9 format can have for increasing work efficiency.

The Dell U3818DW is always particularly suitable when working with several windows simultaneously or when individual applications in full-screen mode have a very high information density and benefit from a lot of space.

Even in terms of image homogeneity, the device performs very well. An area where the wheat is quickly separated from the chaff. This makes the model particularly interesting for photographers and video artists, who can benefit considerably from the gigantic overview of the display and for whom a workflow in the sRGB color space is sufficient at the same time.
The closest competitor to the Dell U3818DW is inevitably the same-sized LG 38UC99, which can increase work efficiency with even more sophisticated additional software – significantly since it has dropped to the same price level.
