The Eizo FlexScan EV3895 is an optimal monitor for office use, but the manufacturer also makes you pay dearly for it. It offers a lot of screen space with a slight curvature, a good resolution, high ergonomics, an extended warranty, and relatively low power consumption thanks to the brightness sensor. The monitor can also be used as a docking station and includes practical multitasking extras like the KVM switch for picture-by-picture.
But to take full advantage, you need a device with USB-C or multiple computers at your desk. The overall package fits, but you could expect a little more for the money. For example, more than 60 hertz would have been nice, or a slightly higher brightness of 450 nits. With this sound quality, Eizo could have done without the loudspeakers, and the operation is unnecessarily cumbersome. In our opinion, the high price is justified in the 38-inch class. However, you will get a few hundred euros cheaper from the competition if you can do without the connection extras and the above-average guarantee.
Dell advertises the U3818DW quite modestly as an office monitor for professional multitasking. What added value such a large display in the extra-wide 21:9 format can have for increasing work efficiency.
The Dell U3818DW is always particularly suitable when working with several windows simultaneously or when individual applications in full-screen mode have a very high information density and benefit from a lot of space.
Even in terms of image homogeneity, the device performs very well. An area where the wheat is quickly separated from the chaff. This makes the model particularly interesting for photographers and video artists, who can benefit considerably from the gigantic overview of the display and for whom a workflow in the sRGB color space is sufficient at the same time.
The closest competitor to the Dell U3818DW is inevitably the same-sized LG 38UC99, which can increase work efficiency with even more sophisticated additional software – significantly since it has dropped to the same price level.
